A World without Clean Water

A world without clean water

is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich

with no jelly.

It would be like a garden

with no plants. It would be like

a body with no bones.

It would be like a fridge

with no food. A rainbow with

no colors. It would be

like a pinata with no

candy. But a world with clean water

is like a balloon that

never pops. Is like

a party that never stops.

Is like a bear always giving honey.

Is like a dictionary

with never-ending pages.

Is like a never-ending loop

of rainbows. Is like

a galaxy of stars next to you.

Do you like water?

Would you want to live

in a world without water?

When They Turn the Clean Water On

When they turn the clean water on

I will give my dog water from the sink finally.

I will have a pool party with the water from the hose.

I will clean the sink. I will wash the dishes with tap water.

I will play with my pool toy that needs water.

I will celebrate water! I will think about water.

When We Turn on Our Faucets

What if stars came out of our faucets

or a whole other galaxy?

What if water was fruit punch or

a sweet pineapple?

Instead we get dangerous lead and bad algae

from our sinks.

Instead we get trash from our sink

or nothing from our sink.

What if we got starburst from our sink?

Instead we get muck or sand.

Dear Water

The pipes are not making you good.

The cities are wasting you! And you’re

travelling all around to help places

so they can have water! And you’re my need!

Thank you. Without you the earth wouldn’t

be safe to live on. In Kenya, they had

to look for you but they found you

after a long game of hide and seek!

And we’re making amazing things

about you such as sound murals!

Sound murals are our voices in pipes!

Love,

Audra
