I Dream of Water

I dream of water.

Water cold and clean to drink.

Water so good to live in the earth.

Water that I can shower in it.

Water that I can splash in.

Water that I can sprinkle on my hair.

Water to swim or dive in.

Water that makes you live like a fish.

Water that makes you want to drink.

Water that makes you strong.

Water to make lemonade with.

Not water brown or yellow.

Not water of death.

Not water of the devil.

On the First Day of the New World

On the first day of the new world

I would want to plant a poem.

I would want to walk on water.

On the first day of the new world

I would want to sleep on the moon.

I would want to swim with the sharks.

On the first day of the new world

I would want to be a worm to make tunnels

to make the rain go down to the plants’ roots.

Or maybe I would want to water a poem

or maybe I would want to be a bee

to make honey for the people.

Dear Water

We don’t want you to be

dirty. We want you to be clean and cool.

We like you, water. We like to share

water. We share the world with you.

No more trash, bottles, and plates. I hope you

will be clean in Flint. Sorry for people who throw

trash, bottles and plates. We are going

to fix you, water. A lot of people are too.

Like a million people. We love you,

water. We need clean water for our babies

to grow strong. Not dirty water to make people

sick. You make us live in the river. We get you and drink

fresh water. Stay in our bodies. Live in

our legs, belly, head, hands and mouth. We

love you so much.

Sincerely, Christopher
